Spooky Sips: Witches Brew Halloween Cocktail Recipe

You know me and my cocktail loving self just had to come up with a spooky Halloween drink. This cocktail is simple and effortlessly fashionable, I mean just look at that  color . These will be a hit at your next party (or just on the couch watching Halloween films, Y’all know that’s my Saturday night). These drinks are the perfect cocktail trio: light, sweet, and a bit bubbly. This cocktail is flavored with Midori (a Japanese honeydew melon liqueur), lime sherbert, and lemon-lime soda. It is a pretty sweet cocktail compared to what I normally post since I like more fresh flavors and don’t eat a ton of sugar (but they are probably average compared to most cocktails). There is also vodka added for more of an alcohol kick (Midori is only 20%). I feel like Halloween cocktails are all about the look and the taste is a bit of an afterthought. I kept looking through other Halloween drinks for inspiration (and because I didn’t want to make something that has been created over and ov...

Halloween is a time for spooky decorations, with pumpkins being a favorite for many households. Traditional pumpkin carving ideas can be fun, but if you're looking for something that will haunt your dreams, you've come to the right place. In this blog post, we will be exploring some of the spookiest and scariest pumpkin carving ideas that you can try this Halloween . 1. The Fangs of a Monster Create a monster with fangs that glow at night by using a power drill. Use a stencil to draw out the fangs and drill around the outline of each tooth. Use a saw to cut out the rest of the mouth. When the carving is complete, insert flameless tea lights inside to make the fangs glow bright. 2. The Gutter Gargoyles Transform your pumpkin into a gargoyle from a gutter with this creepy pumpkin carving idea. Carve out the gargoyle features such as the face, wings, and feet. Then, use paint or a black sharpie to create the worn and chipped look. Gargoyle pumpkins look great on the porch or even...

If you want to light up a table with a gorgeous blast of color this season, you’d be hard pressed to find anything that could top cranberries.     Their bold and bright jeweled saturation, especially when simmered or baked, is pretty stunning. Upside Down Orange Cranberry Bundt Cake Recipe And what better application than to have them crown an upside down cake?  This cake is a simple dessert that highlights not only a gorgeous layer of gooey cranberries but a few slices of the always reliable pop of sunshine of sliced oranges.  Burrowed in a butter and brown sugar mixture, they bake into a luscious topping for a tender cake laced with vanilla and orange zest. "Decadent Orange Pecan Caramel Sauce Cake: A Perfectly Sweet and Nutty Delight"

Orange Pecan Caramel Sauce Cake Sauce cakes are these bizarre little science projects that defy our best intuition about baking.  There’s no creaming of butter and sugar and the liquid is not mixed into the cake batter at all yet somehow it all magically comes together.  It’s an odd idea but the cake is so easy to prepare and so comforting to devour, you’ll quickly forget all the chemistry questions in favor of diving into the delicious results. The ingredients are basic enough but I don’t pretend to know how or why this particular method works.  Once the cake batter is placed in the baking pan, hot liquid is carefully poured over the top so that two distinct layers are formed.  During the baking process, some of the liquid is absorbed into the cake but most of it collects at the bottom of the dish to form a thickened sauce.  Weird, I know. Walnut Tweed Cake: A Delightful Blend of Richness and Texture

We all encounter both challenges and joys in our lives and this year was no different.  As hopeful humans, we commit to doing what it takes to stay positive and enjoy the gifts each day brings. Among the New Year's good luck traditions of eating greens (for the prosperity of folded money), legumes (resembling coins) and noodles (for long life) are round or ring-shaped cakes for a sweet full circle, the cycle of life.  In some cultures, the first piece is made as an offering to a saint and subsequent slices are served in order of age.  Sometimes there's a small token hidden for extra good luck to the finder.  So today I'm offering you a round cake in the hope you may enjoy a lovely year full of goodness and light and the very best of good luck As we turn the page into the 2023 winter season, I’m drawn to the fabulous trio of nuts, spice and chocolate.  And although I tend to go with almonds and pecans most of the time, I do love toasted walnuts in pa...
